Description: Yarrow, occupying 2 properties both with large gardens at the lower end of the high street, has allowed James yarrow and Sarah Wolfe the ideal location to let their creative flare run riot in Devon .The combination of 25 years experience buying antiques in central Asia and the far east, combined with Sarah's acute sense of colour and interior decor have created a quite unique shop, where painted Tibetan and Mongolian furniture sit along side early 20th C English and continental oil paintings and English country furniture. The 10 showrooms, courtyards and large garden make this the largest Antiques shop in the area under sole occupancy, and is further backed up by warehousing that runs to over 1000 sq M. Commitments with commercial customers ensure that there is always a vast amount of stock to chose from, but the high street showrooms are stylishly decorated with lots of colour and little clutter. The interior of the shop has been decorated in places by Sarah's trompe l'oeil. Commissions for larger work are undertaken in situ by her and her sister, and smaller ones can be done in-house on board to be installed when finished. The benefit of a large high street garden allows us to offer a range of terracotta and stone pots and jars from Asia, north Africa and very much closer to home. We also offer hand carved stone and marble statuary, bronzes, and some unique garden furniture. Much of what is available in the gardens was on show at Chelsea this year. Yarrow is a shop well worth a visit, it's interior is inspiring and its garden a revelation, and has recently been feature in the BBC Homes and Antiques magazine. |
