THG Open 2012: Equality & Endeavour
Thelma Hulbert Gallery Honiton
14 July-8 Sept 2012
The winner of this year’s Thelma Hulbert Gallery Open 2012: Equality & Endeavour is Jane Perkins from Kenn, Devon, with her incredible Portrait of Usain Bolt.

Jane has made remarkable portraits of many other famous faces, including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and has won the Visitor’s Choice vote in the THG Open twice before.
The winning portrait is in Jane’s now familiar signature style, which uses an eclectic collection of small brightly coloured plastic objects to create an almost three-dimensional life-like effect. Buttons, beads and seeds have also been added to the mix in this winning entry, which can be seen at the gallery until Saturday 8 September.
The Thelma Hulbert Gallery received the usual high standard of entries for this year’s Open and choosing the eventual winners was hard for the judging panel.
As in previous years the public now have their opportunity to vote for their own favourites in The Visitor’s Choice category. The Artist who receives the most votes in this section wins £100, kindly sponsored by Haughty Culture of Honiton High Street.
